Newcastle's Curry Chef 2010 discovers the best curry in Newcastle!
This is the first year of the competition and it's already heating up. 13 restaurants and takeaways have entered the competition. The chefs are awarded points for the cleanliness of their kitchens, their understanding of food hygiene issues, their use of healthy ingredients and healthy cooking techniques and of course the quality of the curry dishes they cook.
The three highest scoring chefs and finalists are Kulmeet Arora of Sachins, Khaled Miah of Vujon and Ram Kumar Trivedi of Spice Cube. They have been invited to a final cook off before a panel of judges here at the civic centre on Tuesday 21st September.
The judges are Cllr Anita Lower and Simon Preston the EAT festival Director, Dan May of Trees Can't Dance and Noel Jackson, Head of Education at Centre for Life.
