About Anne Makepeace
Passionate about knitting since she was 8 years old, Anne comes from a family of crafters and artists. Growing up surrounded by yarns, fabrics, beads, buttons, books, sewing machines, watercolour paints, drawing equipment, beautiful paper, pens and cameras it was only natural that Anne has become a lover of all things handcrafted.
Anne has worked as a Design Consultant with Rowan Yarns based at John Lewis in Newcastle upon Tyne, and then went on to become a popular Knitting, Crochet & Sewing Workshop Tutor travelling in the UK and France.
Anne has been a living statue on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square London as part of Anthony Gormley's OneandOther Project in 2009 - and yes, you have guessed correctly - Anne spent her hour, knitting & crocheting and talking about it!
Anne is Regional Co-Ordinator of The Knitting and Crochet Guild UK.
Keen to support local charities - Anne is also Treasurer of the Newcastle City Branch of Arthritis Care.
Anne says 'Finding Blackfriars and the space to create The Knit Studio has been, for me, a dream come true.'
